NATO Summit in Chicago in May 2012 PDF Print E-mail

The NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen during his visit of the USA announced the following NATO Summit that will take place in Chicago in the period between 20-21 May the following year.

Following the decisions that were adopted in Lisbon last year, this will be a very important summit where the main topic will be the partnership between NATO and Afghanistan.

The full agenda for the Summit in Chicago is still not final, but one thing is definite and will be cleared: NATO will stay committed and focused at the training and education of the Afghan security forces in order to improve their capacity.

In 2010 at the Lisbon Summit the New Strategic Concept was adopted. On the last summit held at the USA, Washington in 1999, the Alliance celebrated 50 years of its existence.
